We have finished our first week in 5VS. We have been discussing our citizenship, both as Canadians and as members of our school community, as well as our rights in the classroom. The students in 5VS know a lot about how to be a good citizen!
Don't forget to wear your winter uniform on Monday for pictures.

September 10th is fast approaching, and I'm excited to be here in the 5VS classroom preparing for the start of school. I'm looking forward to a fabulous year of learning in Grade 5. We will be making SJR history as this is the first time there will be a Head Girl in Junior School. Who will it be?

If you use Google Earth, you already know what a powerful program it is in finding places around the world, finding directions, and exploring. It now has a new feature called "Sky", which allows you to view and search the universe. You can find constellations, different planets, galaxies, and other cool things in outer space. Just like Google Earth, Google Sky uses satellite images and "stitches" them all together to make a searchable map of the universe. If you want to learn more, go to this link:
http://earth.google.com/sky/index.html
Check it out. It's pretty cool!

Sony just announced an update to their "Portable Playstation" or PSP. It will be called the PSP-2000. Here's a picture:

It's a little thinner than the old one, with better battery life, and more RAM. "RAM" stands for "Random Access Memory." When a computer has more RAM, it is able to do things more quickly. The PSP-2000 will have 64 megabytes of RAM, instead of 32 like the old one. This means it should have less "load times." With the old PSP, you have to wait for the game to "load" before you can play. The new PSP should be faster.
It also has a video-out port, so you can plug it into a television. I'm not sure why you would want to plug it into a television.
It has the same ...
