Ms. Elkins Scribe of the Day By elkina@sjr.mb.ca on 4/29/2008 3:28 PM

ELA We read pages 100-105 in our Social Studies textbook about the start of the fur trade and why it was so popular, and when we were done, that, we read a novel of our choice.

Science We worked on our Virtual Science Fair projects, and we checked out our info on the VSF website. We worked on putting the finishing touches on our projects, and some of us started making quizzes.

Art We finished off our hot and cold collages, a collection of hot and cold colours, taken from magazines. We also started our monster pastel drawings, inspired by, “Where the Wild Things Are” Ms. Payne explained to us the different techniques of using pastel, and most of us got a good deal into this project, finishing our rough copy and starting our good copy.

ELA We discussed an earlier assignment, which was about a book called DISASTER! Ms. Elkins had us put down the bibliographic information, and she discussed with us what we thought the most interesting ...

Scribe Monday, April 28/08 Day 4
Ms. Elkins Scribe of the Day By elkina@sjr.mb.ca on 4/29/2008 9:51 AM

Today is Monday April 28, 2008. We had an interesting day and we accomplished many things!

In period one, we had ELA. All of the class took a survey on their learning experiences at school, and how the teachers can make it even better. The survey had sixteen questions, with the choices: “agree,” “disagree,” and “no opinion.” Also, there was a small comment box. We tried to avoid answering with “no opinion,” because we wanted thoughtful answers.

We had science in the second period. At that point, we worked on our Virtual Science Fair (VSF). VSF was a project on the computer where we picked a topic and researched it. Then, we converted it into a web page which was submitted to the VSF web site. Working on our Virtual Science Fair projects is lots of fun, and we learn a lot of new things about computers!

After we went outside for recess, we had math in period three. We did Daily Math #9 Thursday, and then we corrected it. Some of those question ...
