Welcome to Term 2!
By elkina@sjr.mb.ca on 1/4/2008 1:35 PM

Well, only a few more days until I see you all again. I hope all 5AE students and their families had a terrific and restful holiday.

If you are already craving school work (as I am sure most of you are!), feel free to review your respiratory and circulatory system notes. We will finish up the circulatory system in the first week and move on to the digestive system. Check out the science links on our blog for pages to help you review and also to gain a sneak peek at the digestive system. If that is not enough for you, preview chapters 4-6 in your social studies textbook by scanning the titles and subtitles (this is assuming that you have already read those chapters).

See you soon, Ms. E.

Conferences Feedback
By elkina@sjr.mb.ca on 12/7/2007 1:51 PM

Thank you to all the parents of 5AE students who were able to attend our student-led conferences. It was a pleasure to see your children show you their work with pride.

Mrs. Chaban would love to hear any feedback you have about how the conferences went for you. Feel free to email me or Mrs. Chaban with any comments you would like to share (what you liked, disliked or what you would change).

Thank you!

By elkina@sjr.mb.ca on 12/6/2007 7:16 PM

Hi parents of 5AE!

Both Grade 5 classes are going to the Manitoba Museum in the afternoon on Dec. 11. We need one or two parents to accompany 5AE. We leave the school at 12:20 p.m. and arrive back at school around 3:30 p.m.

Please send an email to Ms. Elkins if you are interested (aelkins@sjr.mb.ca). Thank you.

Thank You 5AE Parents
By elkina@sjr.mb.ca on 10/19/2007 2:33 PM

It was wonderful seeing so many 5AE parents attending Parents Day today. Your children loved having you in our class, and several of you were very brave by participating in our 30 second speeches. The topics and the imagination of the speakers made for some interesting speeches: sleeping in a tree, chapstick art, dandelions invading the house, ketchup soup, and of course, KG and Mrs. G's magic pizza! Students and parents created some stunning sentences in our sentence competition. Well done! Several students and a few parents now know the secret to the game, Black Magic! Hopefully, all students will be able to figure it out on their own.

Thank you, again, for coming. It was terrific to see you all there!

Buy a Great Calendar!
By elkina@sjr.mb.ca on 10/19/2007 2:19 PM

If you do not know one of the 5AE students selling calendars, and would like to purchase an Ultimate Family Organizer calendar...they are only $15.00 each. Our class keeps $5.00 for each calendar sold, which will be donated to the Canadian Cancer Society and Dreams Take Flight.

Send your cheque with the number of calendars you would like to Alison Elkins (Junior School). Make your cheque payable to St. John's-Ravenscourt School. We appreciate your support.

Calendar Campaign
By elkina@sjr.mb.ca on 10/19/2007 12:12 PM

5AE students have decided to sell the Ultimate Family Organizer (a calendar with plenty of space for recording family activities) to raise money for the two organizations we are supporting this year (Canadian Cancer Society and Dreams Take Flight). See the attached document with all the details about the organizations and the calendar campaign.
