Thick questions are those that include "inferential" and "evaluative" questions. Inferential questions require us to hypothesize at an answer and to infer, based on what we read. This is also called "reading between the lines". For an evaluative question, you need to provide your opinion or you need to explain something. With "thick" questions, there is no one correct answer that can be found in the text.
