Music: In music we continued in the band introduction. Many people liked the trumpet.

French lab: We worked on aviation. At 10:05 we had a fire drill then we went straight to recess.

Math: We took the Guess and Check test and when we were done, we read.

Health: We took a test on Human Sexuality. Afterwards, we corrected the first and second page.

Surprise. We shucked corn for eaglefest.

Lab: We worked on printing our limericks and we also worked on our cloud paragraph.

Art: We worked on our murals for the class.

Special Assembly: This morning we had a special assembly for Mrs.McFee. Everyone did something special to show our respect for Mrs.McFee.

Music: In music class we got to try some of the instruments we could play next year in music. We didn't get to try out all the instruments, so on thursday we will get to try out the rest. We also got to meet some of the music teachers we get next year.

Social Studies: We went over our social studies and studied for 25 minutes. After that we answered some questions that might be on the test.

Library: We had fun in library because we got to go to the middle and senior school library. It's a cool library and our librarian is very cool.

E.L.A.: For E.L.A. we got to go on the labtops and we worked on our limericks.

T.U.S.C.: Today for the last two periods we got to do T.U.S.C. I thought everyone did a great job. There were lot's of interesting topics shared today. I hope ...

Social Studies: Practiced Social Studies flash cards with a partner.

Science: Started a descriptive paragraph about clouds and discussed the different types of clouds.

French: Discussed homework and made phone sentences with a partner in French.

Computer Lab: Worked on finalizing our Limericks so that we could print them. We started the Limericks last week with Mrs. Wadge. Also we worked on our clouds paragraphs.

 Physical Education: Practiced completing the 60m dash, 100m and 200m.

Assembly: In assembly Mr. Milani told us who won all the draws and we also got to see everyone's costume.

Speaker: Some middle school students came to talk to us about middle school.

Art: In art we worked on our murle's. Murle's are paintings with a story behind them.

Social Studies: In soical studies we worked on putting all our notes on to our cards.

French: In french we learned how to say our address in French.

Music: In music we got our poster marks back.

Health: In health we answered some of the we had about family life.

Health: We talked about HIV and AIDS, Menstruation, learned how a baby is born and recieved a booklet about puberty.

LUNCH: We had the "Cow"nadian Idol and the Milk Chug-a-lug

Science/Top Secret Project: We had a test on The Water Cycle and we discussed our "top secret" project with our partners.

Social Studies: We recorded notes (on the cards) on "Radisson and Grosliers" and "The English Fur Trade: Companys of Adventurers."

Phys Ed: We ran two laps around the field. Then we practiced for Track + Field Day. We played Ultimate at the end.

Homeroom: Ms. Elkins returned Our V.S.F. project rubric and our Simple Machines test.

Today was one of the best spirit week days yet!

ELA: We put together a persuasive paragraph package and we made our own limericks! A limerick is a poem with 5 lines. Lines 1+2+5 rhyme and 3+4 rhyme.

Science: We learned the definitions of each part of the water cycle.

Math: We went over PS 30.

We showed our house spirit by building a farm out of milk cartons during lunch!

French: We learned how to say "in" in different ways.

Music: We practiced Rock and Roll Forever and the "Secret Song" :)

To end the day, we started our "top secret" activity and we did the Cowadian Idol auditions!

Today we had a really cool day.

Math/Science: Today in math, the grade 5's did a math contest called the Math League Contest.It is specificaly made for grade 5's. it is out of 30 and if you get 12 out of 30 you do good! For science we did our reflections for our Virtual Science Fair where we wrote our hypothysis,question, what we learned, what we liked, what we could improve, our conclusion, and how hard we worked on our project.

Library Circulation: For this, half of our class goes to the library and half stays in our class and reads, then we switch.

Math: Today in math, we did our MeasurmentTest. It was out of 15 marks. Some of the questions had perimeter and area involed in them.

Social Studies: In social studies today, we kept on going with our little studying cards. We write information on these cards from our social studies textbook and we take them home to study.

On Friday our class learned from a variety of classes.

Science: we learned about weather we have also been reading a book called “Disasters”. We also finished up our Virtual Science Fair presentations.

Art: we created pictures of creatures in midnight. We got the ideas from the book “Where the Wild Thing Are”

Music: we watched the video of the rock show. We got to see ourselves and how we thought that we preformed. We all had a lot to be proud of.

We had to miss our French period because all the classes in Junior School planted grass seeds where there was dead grass or much grass.

Computer: we took the chance to see pictures from our Rock show and then we commented on how we thought it went and if we liked it.

ealth: We wrote down how we thought middle school was going to be and we also wrote down lists of how to show respect.

E.L.A.: In E.L.A. we played interesting word games with adjectives, adverb, verbs and more.

Music: In music we prepared for our musical which is going on right now. It is fun.

Science: In science we studied our simple machines for a test next Thursday. Then, we wrote down 5 things we wanted to learn in science.

French: In French class we had a test on the 2 verbs etre and avoir. It was pretty hard.

Science: In our second science class of the day, we talked about Canadian disasters.

Music: In music class we personated our musical to the whole junior school.

Math: For the first period we had a math test on number theory. Overall it was a pretty easy test.

Math: In the second period we also had math. We made irregular shapes and figured out the area and perimeter of the shape.

Library: In library we picked out books of our choice.

Math: We learned about metric units of mass and capacity in our math textbooks.

Science: We started our units on weather. We brainstormed different words about weather. We brainstormed a lot of words.

Gym: We warmed up and played Badminton with a partner.We kept on playing badminton and then cleaned up at the end.

Music: We rehearsed our first part of the Rock show, which is happening in the next two days.We kept on rehearsing our Rock show. We are very well prepared for our show tomorrow and Thursday.

Music: In music we practiced our musical and reviewed some of the songs that we did not know as well as the other song. We went through the whole play.

French: In French we continued to do our animation what we have been working on for a long time and almost all of us are done. Our animations are about space ships a hot air balloon and many more.

We had a pop quiz and no one aced the test, but Keegan got really close he just did a careless mistake. The test was about reading the directions carefully and don’t skip ahead without reading the directions. In the end, we had to just ignore the directions and write our name in the top corner of the page.

Health: In health we also had a test and Mr. Plant gave us no warning of the test either. The test was pretty hard; I don’t think anyone got perfect. One next Wednesday we are starting a new unit called family life.

Day 8- Friday, May 2, 2008

ELA: In ELA we rehearsed for our science presentation, and we heared about Mathew's website on the solar system.

Reading Buddies: In Reading Buddies, we paired up with the grade two's. They have improved a lot since we last saw them.

Math: We had our P.S. test today, and we had a bit of DEAR time after.

Science: We started by correcting our Number Theory prep test, and our lesson on Area and Perimeter. At the end of class, we recieved our P.S. tests, and we all did very well.

Science: We watched two simple machines movies to help us prepare for our upcomming test.

Music (double period): We rehearsed for our play on Wednesday with all of the grade 4's and 5's.

Today was Grandparents' Day

Homeroom: We showed our grandparents our VSF website. We also showed them how the blog works and the things on it. We played some games. One of them was to fix an advertisment that was wrong.

P.E. For the warm up we played rats tails. After a little while we played dodge ball and some of the grandparents joined in.

Social Studies: We got our socail studies test back. We looked over it and if we had any questions we asked them.

Library: We had a quiz about all the things we learned in library class this year.

T.U.S.C.: We presented.: We finished doing our presantions and then started a reflection on what we thought we could improve for next T.U.S.C.

Science: We did an experiment to see how much the book that we picked weighed. We did this by using a spring to lift the book. After we did this we tried it with the pulley. We found out that using a pulley is ...

ELA We read pages 100-105 in our Social Studies textbook about the start of the fur trade and why it was so popular, and when we were done, that, we read a novel of our choice.

 Science We worked on our Virtual Science Fair projects, and we checked out our info on the VSF website. We worked on putting the finishing touches on our projects, and some of us started making quizzes.

Art We finished off our hot and cold collages, a collection of hot and cold colours, taken from magazines. We also started our monster pastel drawings, inspired by, “Where the Wild Things Are” Ms. Payne explained to us the different techniques of using pastel, and most of us got a good deal into this project, finishing our rough copy and starting our good copy.

ELA We discussed an earlier assignment, which was about a book called DISASTER! Ms. Elkins had us put down the bibliographic information, and she discussed with us what we thought the most interesting ...

Today is Monday April 28, 2008. We had an interesting day and we accomplished many things!

In period one, we had ELA. All of the class took a survey on their learning experiences at school, and how the teachers can make it even better. The survey had sixteen questions, with the choices: “agree,” “disagree,” and “no opinion.” Also, there was a small comment box. We tried to avoid answering with “no opinion,” because we wanted thoughtful answers.

We had science in the second period. At that point, we worked on our Virtual Science Fair (VSF). VSF was a project on the computer where we picked a topic and researched it. Then, we converted it into a web page which was submitted to the VSF web site. Working on our Virtual Science Fair projects is lots of fun, and we learn a lot of new things about computers!

After we went outside for recess, we had math in period three. We did Daily Math #9 Thursday, and then we corrected it. Some of those question ...

There was no assembly today. Before we went to music we corrected Daily ELA (English Language Art) Tuesday Week 4, which is in the English binder, and we also corrected Daily ELA Wednesday Week 4.

Music: Mrs. Zelinik assigned us new homework. The homework is to pick a song artist for the “Rock Show” wall of fame and make three solid reasons why you picked that song artist. You must know who you are choosing by Friday, April 25. After Mrs. Zelinik explained the homework we practiced the “Footloose” dance moves. Then the girls practiced the Avril Lavigne song Sk8terboi. After the song we sang D-I-S-C-O with the Actions.

French Computer Lab: We continued Aviation and Mr. Budahan taught us how to add the special effects like “Fade In” and “Fade Out”, Mr. Budahan told us to do a self-evaluation after we are done our Aviation animations.

Science: In Science we worked on our Virtual Science Fair projects. Our goal was to complete the project by the end of class.

Math: My classmates and I reviewed how to calculate area. We completed math questions, which we call Conceptual Understanding. During period 5, we reviewed how to find the area of irregular shapes and recorded it in our grid books. For period 8, the class did a final review on finding the area of irregular shapes. We also made our own irregular shapes for the class to solve. Irregular shapes were definitely the highlight of math today!!

ELA: We corrected our daily L.A.

French: During our French class, we corrected our quiz based on the verbs Etre and Avoir. We also sang an amusing song about the verb Etre. We read our promenade Deux (2) booklets.

Music: In music we practiced our songs for our upcoming rock show. The songs we rehearsed were, We Never Cut Our Hair, Footloose, and Hot Summer Nights.&l ...
