Learning about Courage: by Cheryl Kives guidance counsellor
The Character Education word this month is courage.
Showing courage can be hard. It means doing something that is a little scary. Showing courage helps you test yourself and helps you learn new things.
Students at SJR have learned about courage and a few students in 5VS presented a skit about it. Other students discussed what it means to have courage and they said that they used to be scared of trying new food, swimming, going to the movies, diving off the diving board, the dark, doing a recital and learning new sports. Students said that once they tried something new, and realized they could do it, they were not scared anymore.
They learned that courage is having the strength to beat their fears.
