Book Review: Hatchet by Gary Paulsen
Zack
Hatchet is about 13 year old Brian Robeson who gets stranded in the Canadian wilderness. The way he got there was easy the pilot of the plane he was on that was going to his father’s town died and then he crashed In the wilderness Brian changes his way of thinking. During this time Brian learns to live off the land. He eats berries and hunts with homemade tools. He also explores where he is. He also builds a shelter that is small and lives in it for a long time. The “secret” between his parents tears him apart.
The theme of this book is survival or adventure. The message I think the author is trying to get across is that although you don’t think you can you can. Such as I didn’t think I could hit a bull’s eye but I did. Another message is that you can live off the land.
I liked this book because the author made the end of each chapter interesting. Also the author made you want to keep reading because you want to see if Brian lives or not. Another thing is that a lot of bad things happen to Brian. Another thing is that the author puts a lot of detail in this book. |
